adventure time halloween costumes!

This year for halloween we dressed up as a family as characters from the MATHMATICAL show Adventure Time. If ya haven't seen it, watch it like now (on Cartoon Network)! Mady loves the show & we love to watch it with her! Mady was Finn, Jason was Jake the dog, & I was Marceline the Vampire Queen. I put the costumes together myself and even made the axe bass for my costume. Here is a rundown of what you would need for the costumes.

Marceline:

*Grey tank top (I got mine @ A&F)
*Dark skinny jeans (I got mine @ HcO)
*Boots (suppose to be red, but I couldn't find any cheap enough so I went with brown, which she did wear in one episode)
*Vampire teeth (I got the ones you fit in by Dracula House Sexy Bites)
*Long black wig (locally purchased at performance studios)
*Axe Bass (see tutorial a few posts back)
*red liner to make bite marks on neck

Jake:

We went simple for Jason because he didn't wanna go out all out.

* jake face tee from Hot Topic
*jake Laplander hat from Hot Topic
*dark boot cut jeans

Finn:

* light blue tee (I found one for $3 on Hanes.com in a 4T -- they have larger sizes of course)
*dark blue shorts (also Hanes.com -- variety of sizes & around $4)
* put some white rights on her in case it got chilly with socks (since Finn wears socks)
*plain black slip on shoes (we got ours at Walmart for $5)
*adventure time Finn's sword (official merchandise from Target, $19)
*Finn's hat -- Hot Topic, $20
*green backpack (found on amazon for $8) -- looks the same and didn't pay $40 for the licensed product

All in all we paid around $120 for all of the costume material for all of us. The costumes were a hit everywhere we went, which included Ghouls at Grassmere at the Nashville Zoo & a street party on the square in Lebanon. We felt like celebrities because all the other kids wanted pics with all of us & the adults too!

Another great Halloween!! <3

what I love this week / what I wore.

Well this was a weekend when Madeline was visiting Grammy & we had date night & girls night!

I wore a yellow top (from Urban Outfitters) and black skinnies (from Hot Topic -- see previous posts) and of course hyped my hair :) Great date night look for eating at the oyster bar in Franklin, TN (yum!!)

Girls night: I wore a top from Charlotte Russe and some HcO skinnie dark jeans (not pictured!) My bestie is a hair stylist so she straightened my hair better than I could ever do (made me feel even better!).

Anyways, some simple clothes can go along way with the right hair, makeup, and accessories! All that didn't even matter compared to the fun times we had!! <3 class="separator" data-blogger-escaped-div="div" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

what I love this week (Luke Bryan.... Duh!)

Went to see Luke Bryan for FREE down on Broadway this Wednesday in Nashville! It was so awesome and the crowd was epic! It was our first experience taking Madeline to a outdoor concert like that & it really worked out well. We ate at a restaurant close to the stage and happened to make some new friends in the process. It was nice to be away from the crowd in a safe environment & there was even other kids there! Great country time here in the best city in the U.S. (in my opinion), Nashville.
(oh and I love that my cat was watching Freaks & Geeks on my iPad--cute!)

what I love this week <the adventure science center!>

We loved our family trip to the Adventure Science Center here in Nashville (definitely getting a membership!). So many activities for kids of all ages and fun for adults too!! I LOVED getting harnessed up and doing the space walk! Also, Madeline loved the building areas and water play! Go if you plan to come to our city of Nashville if you have kids!

what I (we wore) this week. <3

Went out to dinner & put together a cute outfit -- country style! Everyone said I looked like a songwriter! (haha more like guitar player LOL)

I wore a black flowing top from Target and a white long skirt I got forever ago (can't even remember where it's from!) and of course my cowgirl boots (favorite thing in my wardrobe right now & a TN necessity!) Paired it with some oversized rings and BAM! (As Emeril would say) a cute outfit for a dinner down on Broadway in NashVegas!

Madeline also looked adorable in leggings (target) & a tunic top I got for $2 @ a local thrift store! (Love my thrift stores!!) <3 class="separator" data-blogger-escaped-div="div" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

diy halloween treat bags. <3

Made some DIY Halloween treat bags for Madeline's dance class this week and I personally thought they turned out adorable & they were so easy to make (thanks to my friend Sarah's help!!)

The Ghost:
  • clear bags
  • orange (or black ribbon)
  • mini marshmallows (for 8 of them I used 1 1/2 bags)
  • permanent marker
    • Basically fill your bags with the marshmallows, tie with the twistie that comes with the bag, add the ribbon, & draw on the face.
    • DONE! so simple! (helps to have someone hold the bag while you fill & tie :)

The Bags:
  • Purchased the pumpkin bags at Target for $1 a piece (again I did 8)
    • you could use any variety of bag
  • I used black paint to write their indiviual names on the pumpkins (the 4 years olds in her dance class LOVE it being personalized!)
    • Filled them with halloween colored bubbles & a few mini candies
    • added the ghosts so they looked like they were peaking out of the pumkin

what I love this week -- FALL!! <3

I loved visiting Honeysuckle Hill Farms with my family here in Tennessee & having fun & getting our punkins'! Best part -- burying my daughter in corn kernels!! <3 class="separator" data-blogger-escaped-div="div" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

what i love this week & what I wore. <3

First off I wore a top from one of my favorite stores here in Brentwood, TN -- Blush. It kinda sucks cause they are right by Target so you can't help but go in & then you spend more haha Their clearance racks are awesome though! Designer clothes at affordable prices.paired it with black skinnies from Hot Topic (my favorite jeans!) & my new pleather bomber jacket from Target. <3 data-blogger-escaped-br="br">
2- the hair accessory came from Free People and it is a braid in piece. I LOVE IT & it is rockin' in my hair! <3 class="separator" data-blogger-escaped-div="div" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

COUPONING!

These deals were purchased from a variety of stores utilizing a variety of coupons. I got $100 worth of merchandise for $20. Not too bad for my second attempt at couponing. I especially love the sunscreen deals. They were dirt cheap & I had coupons, so they were free. I LOVE free!! Again, I apologize for the late posting, but times are busy right now!!!

2- charades at the besties house! Hilarious especially when you add booze! LOL

what I wore this week. <3

1- nothing special except for the sweater. It was my dads high school letter sweater! love it not only being vintage but that it was my dads! So special! <3 data-blogger-escaped-br="br">
2- Saturday night -- lace dress for urban outfitters, my cowgirl leather brown boots, and some betsey Johnson earrings (blue & sparkly!!).

first couponing trip EVER! (addicted)

Ok so this was my first attempt at couponing!! I am now obsessed and have become a couponaholic! I got all this for around $10.00 using manufacturer coupons and matching them up with store deals. Unfortunately, I have been behind on my blog due to the Halloween crafting craziness, so these deals and coupons are no longer available. Stay tuned as from now on I will be posting deals and coupons so you can score some great swag too! <3
